One issue about colonization on Earth has been the gender distribution or amount. Usually, there were much men that women, and men finally joined with native women. No way in space, so in order to create an autonomous space colony, which is the best option?
A) Mixed genders: a very similar number of men and women, the same that happens in Earth.
B) Poligamy: much more women that men.
C) Poliandria: much more men than women
D) All men
E) All women
And why?

I think, socially, the equal numbers of men and women would be psychologically helpful.
Having an imbalance with more men means that some men won't be able to reasonably satisfy their primal urge to breed.
Having an imbalance with more women is less psychologically stressful, but more socially stressful due to the territoriality of men.

Technically, more women would be safer for Colony Population expansion, but that should align itself in another generation. And it would also support actual polygamy, which can be morally questionable for some Colonists. I don't think that topic would be problem, because even in worse case, Colony on Mars should get additional Colonists from Earth, every two years.

We should definitely try for an even split.
