I have heard of a few but I do not believe they are practical.
Magentic rail cannon (shoots like a really long gun, and can reach space) That hyperloop thing that requires 1000km to get going.

Are we talking about launching from Earth, or from Colony? Space Elevator is cheap, but very slow. I have heard of a few but I do not believe they are practical. Magentic rail cannon (shoots like a really long gun, and can reach space) That would be unsuitable for living organisms, because of sudden acceleration (unless it will be very long, like few hundreds kilometers, and accelerate slowly, or organisms will be put into some kind of gel)

Launch Loops get you a bit better performance to orbit then space elevators do, but really the "it takes so long to get to orbit" complaint about elevators seems really silly, frankly. Sure, it takes three days, that's not really that long though, it's just like taking a long train ride to orbit, and given the reduction in cost and the ability to do mass material transport, it seems really viable. But launch loops are even better. Launch loops get you a lower $/kg to orbit then the space elevator can, which is impressive. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Launch_loop

Actually I had on mind launching from Earth as we would need to lift up big amount of material, people, fuel etc. first for initial phase of building of orbital/surface base.
After that we can start to talk about "space launching" as every celestial body have different escape velocity, temperatures, atmosphere composition (if any) etc.

When launching from Earth, the Launch Loop seems like a more viable starting option than many other gravity well escape systems.

From our point of view the main issue with the LaunchLoop is it´s current non-availability so we have to stick on existing and proven technologies...
